Outline of Research at the Start

光デバイスの実用材料であるIII-V族化合物半導体量子ドットを用いて、電子のスピン情報である向きの偏り（スピン偏極）を、室温で高効率に光のスピン情報である円偏光特性に変換する。そして、電子と光のスピン情報を超高速で変換する低消費電力の光スピン情報技術の基盤を構築する。
このため、室温動作可能なスピン機能光デバイスや電子スピン偏極の増幅、スピン偏極の電界操作などを発展させる。
非磁性半導体の電子状態にはスピンの偏りはなくアップとダウンのスピン偏極電子数がバランスしているが、スピン偏極に応じた電気信号を生成し検出するスピン機能光デバイスを研究し、スピン特有の偏極情報を活用する情報処理を確立していく。
