Outline of Research at the Start

ラン藻(シアノバクテリア)と放線菌(細菌)の共培養系において、単独培養と比べて、それぞれの微生物の増殖が劇的に向上する現象について、解析を進めている。別府フラスコ(2チャンバーフラスコ)による培養実験により、代謝物が関与していることが示唆されている。また、共培養によりそれぞれの微生物の炭素同位体比や窒素同位体比が変動することからそれぞれの微生物が互いの代謝物を利用していることが示唆された。現在、遺伝子発現解析やゲノム解析を駆使して関連する代謝の特定を試みている。
