Outline of Research at the Start

針葉樹はギ酸を介した新奇の光呼吸経路（ギ酸経路）を有することが明らかになってきた。このような針葉樹と被子植物の光呼吸経路の違いは、過酸化水素からO2を発生させるカタラーゼ（CAT）の細胞内局在性の違いや、O2から水分子を合成するFLVタンパク質の有無など、葉におけるO2の発生や消費に関わるシステムの違いが原因である可能性が高い。炭素安定同位体を用いたギ酸経路の代謝速度解析、プロトプラストを用いたCATの細胞内局在解析、ゲノム編集技術を用いたFLV欠損スギの作製と解析を通し、針葉樹の光呼吸に特有なギ酸経路のメカニズムを明らかにする。
