Outline of Research at the Start

カイアシ類は魚類の重要な餌料として海洋生態系を支える存在であるが，そのウイルスに関わる知見は圧倒的に不足し，近年検出されつつあるカイアシ類のウイルスの存在意義は謎に包まれている．そこで，本研究は地球規模に分布するカイアシ類に着目し，ウイルス相と遺伝的集団の関係性，感染性ウイルス・常在性ウイルス・内在性ウイルス様配列（ホストのゲノムに組み込まれた配列）の有無，またウイルス感染に対する免疫機構や生理応答を調査し，これまで見過ごされてきたカイアシ類のウイルス研究に光を当てことを目的とする．
