Outline of Research at the Start

エゾウイルスは北海道で原因不明の急性熱性疾患を呈した患者より発見された新しいヒト病原ナイロウイルスであり、マダニおよび野生動物に感染し維持されていると考えられる。また、近年、エゾウイルスに近縁なヒト病原ナイロウイルスが中国で複数発見されている。これら新興感染症の原因となるナイロウイルス(新興ナイロウイルス)は発見されて間もないために、ウイルスの基礎的な分子性状が明らかでない。そこで新興ナイロウイルス感染の分子基盤を解明する。
