Outline of Research at the Start

精子形成の制御には精細胞と隣接するセルトリ細胞からのサポートが不可欠であるが、その機能的役割は未だ不明な点が多い。申請者はこれまでに、RNA結合タンパク質であるPTBP1をセルトリ細胞特異的に欠損させると、精細胞が減数分裂を完了することが出来ず、雄性不妊になることを見出している。このことは、PTBP1により制御される分子基盤が、セルトリ細胞の持つ精子形成のサポート能力に不可欠であることを示している。そこで、本申請ではセルトリ細胞におけるPTBP1の遺伝子機能に着目し、セルトリ細胞が如何にして精細胞の減数分裂を制御するのか？という未知のメカニズムについて、その分子基盤を明らかにすることを目指す。
