Outline of Research at the Start

DNAメチル化やヒストンの化学修飾をはじめとするエピジェネティック制御は、遺伝子発現や、発生や疾患に関連した表現型に重大な影響を与 えると考えられている。しかし、ゲノム中のどの部位のどのようなエピジェネティック修飾が、遺伝子発現や表現型に重要なのかといった未解明の問題が数多く存在する。本研究では、近年、開発と改良が進められているDNAメチル化編集技術を使って、特定部位のDNAメチル化を操作しながら 、遺伝子発現や表現型に影響を与えるDNAメチル化部位を探索する。また、エピゲノム編集実験のための手法やツールの開発に取り組む。
