Outline of Research at the Start

申請者はこれまで、6疾患において新規のリピート伸長変異を同定し、同じリピートモチーフの伸長により同様の疾患がもたらされるというリピートモチーフ・表現型関連の概念を提唱した。この現象は、リピート伸長変異そのものの病態への関与を示唆するものであり、今後、リピート伸長変異を直接標的とする治療法が望まれる。本研究では、リピート伸長病のモデル細胞、モデルマウス作成による病態解明、治療法開発を目的とする。また、疾患遺伝子未同定症例のゲノム解析を行い、リピート伸長変異も含めて検討を行うことにより、新規遺伝子同定を目指す。
