Outline of Research at the Start

既存の抗ウイルス薬ではB型肝炎ウイルス（HBV）を感染肝から完全に駆除できない。本研究の目的は、HBVを感染肝から完全に駆除できる抗ウイルス薬の作用機序や標的分子を解明し、そのような抗ウイルス療法の開発・実用化を通じ、世界レベルで公衆衛生上の課題となっているHBV感染に起因する肝疾患死の撲滅に寄与することである。この目的を達成するために、HBVの遺伝子多型を網羅した肝癌細胞株、PXB細胞、ヒト肝細胞キメラマウスにおけるリコンビナントウイルスHiBiT-HBVの感染・複製系を確立し、その系を用いて、約6500種の薬物の抗ウイルス効果をハイスループットに広く探索する。
