Outline of Research at the Start

ワクチンや治療薬の開発によりCOVID-19重症化リスクは改善された一方で、入院患者や死亡者は未だ存在し、さらに感染が軽快した後の後遺症 (Long COVID)に悩む患者も増加し、COVID-19重症化やLong COVIDを抑制する新たな治療薬の開発の社会的要請は依然として高い。本研究は、 多施設共同研究を通じて集積した日本とカナダのCOVID-19患者を対象として、マルチオミクス解析を通じて人種横断的にCOVID-19重症化や後遺 症の病態生理を解明することを目指す。さらには、人種によらず普遍的に病態の根幹に関わる分子を同定することで新たな治療薬の開発を目指すものである。
