Outline of Research at the Start

超高齢化社会ではアルツハイマー病(AD)などの認知症が問題となっているが、認知症の発症メカニズムは解明されていない。本研究では、ADの発症に関連している「加齢」「老人斑の出現」「認知機能を司る領域の神経脱落」の3つをつなげる、「神経細胞のオートファジー」「Aβ42オリゴマーの拡散」「口腔と認知機能領域をつなぐ経路」に着目し、AD発症のメカニズムを明らかにすることを目的とした。ADモデルマウス使って、加齢及び口腔機能低下に伴う神経変性によるAD の進行メカニズムを組織病理学的に解析する。ヒト死後AD脳を病理組織学的に精査する。これらを統括してAD発症のメカニズムを明らかにしようとするものである。
