Outline of Research at the Start

土壌は陸域最大の炭素プールであり、土壌への有機炭素の蓄積は、大気中の二酸化炭素濃度を減少させる重要な方策となっている。本研究では
、有機炭素蓄積メカニズムの異なる土壌を対象として、表面科学に基づく有機炭素-粘土鉱物界面の解析と、最先端の微生物群集組成および活
性の解析によって、土壌ごとに異なる有機炭素蓄積ポテンシャルを明らかにする。さらに、土壌生成学に基づき、気候、地質情報から有機炭素
蓄積ポテンシャルの空間分布を解明する。
