Outline of Research at the Start

本研究課題は、細胞老化という新しい切り口で放射線発がんの克服を目指す基盤的な課題である。
加齢により組織中に生じる老化細胞とそれに伴う慢性炎症が、肝線維症・糖尿病・発がんなど加齢性疾患の要因となること、老化細胞除去剤（セノリティクス）により一部の加齢性疾患が改善されることが明らかにされた。放射線発がんリスクの高い臓器である乳腺・肝臓の放射線発がんモデルを解析したところ、腫瘍と間質にそれぞれ老化細胞が生じているという知見を得た。そこで本研究では乳腺・肝臓において放射線による細胞老化機構を明らかにし、セノリティクスによる放射線発がん予防作用を検討する。
