Outline of Research at the Start

高強度光生成プラズマの過渡的状態の解明と、それを応用した新しいX線光学の開拓を目的とした研究を実施する。高強度の可視光レーザーやX線レーザーの照射で生成される高密度プラズマは内殻電離状態を経て、フェムト秒からピコ秒の時間スケールで熱平衡に至る。本研究では、フェムト秒のパルス幅のX線自由電子レーザー(XFEL)を用いたX線吸収分光計測による電離状態の時間発展の計測と、理論・シミュレーション研究との連携により、非平衡かつ過渡的なプラズマの物理過程を解明する。更に、反転分布状態を利用したX線レーザーの発振・増幅、その光子エネルギー制御など、プラズマの過渡的状態を活用した新たなX線光学の展開を目指す。
