Outline of Research at the Start

The proposed research mainly focuses on the development of the mid- and late-transition metal hydride complexes bearing Lewis acidic functional groups for N2 activation and the catalytic hydrogenation of N2 to NH3 and N-C bond formation from N2, H2 and unsaturated hydrocarbons. A serious of mid- and late-transition metal hydride complexes with Lewis acidic function groups will be synthesized. Besides, activation and functionalization of N2 to the value-added N-containing compounds by these complexes will be examined.
