Outline of Research at the Start |
The purpose of the research is to understand in detail the non-contact bouncing mechanism of drops on liquid infused surfaces. We will understand why hot drops do not bounce, how the molecular properties of the fluids affect the bouncing properties and how the lubricant properties can influence the residence time. The research will be conducted through direct visualization of the air layer between the drop and the lubricant layer using advanced optical techniques, namely two wavelength interferometry and total internal reflection microscopy.
