Outline of Research at the Start

哺乳類細胞膜上に発現するシスチン輸送体（xCT）は、主要な抗酸化物質であるグルタチオンレベルの制御に重要な役割を担っている。最近、フェロトーシスと命名された新しい細胞死の形態が報告され、神経変性疾患やがんなど多様な疾患への関与が示された。また、xCTがフェロトーシス制御の最上位に位置する分子であることが明らかになった。本研究では、xCTの発現制御に影響を与える未知の食品成分の探索を行い、xCTを誘導することが知られているフラボノイドを含めた食品由来成分によるxCTの発現制御のメカニズムを明らかにし、xCTを介したフェロトーシス制御機構を細胞レベル、個体レベルで解明することを目指す。
