Outline of Research at the Start

サブサハラ・アフリカでは、乳幼児の栄養改善が重要な課題となっている。本研究は、栄養不良が深刻なガーナ北部の農村部を対象に、端境期になると市場から野菜が消えてしまうことが子どもの栄養不良を引き起こしているという問題を取り上げる。その問題への対策として、端境期に野菜を自家生産することが考えられる。そこで、野菜を通じて微量栄養素を摂取することが栄養改善にとって重要であることを子どもの親に知らせるというフィールド実験を行い、情報提供が野菜の自家生産を促す効果があるかどうか、また情報を提供する相手が父親の場合と母親の場合では野菜の自家生産を促す効果に違いがあるのかについて研究を行う。
