Outline of Research at the Start

研究代表者らは、「真に無菌のショウジョウバエ」を安定的に長期間維持する技術を世界に先駆けて確立した。本技術の有用性を発信して普及させることが本国際共同研究の目的である。そのため、ショウジョウバエ腸内細菌研究の第一人者である海外の研究室に長期滞在し、無菌ハエ技術の供与と実験系の立ち上げを直接実施する。そして、当該研究室で開発中の腸内細菌変異体ライブラリーと消化管神経系を操作可能なトランスジェニックハエ系統を現地で利用し、腸内細菌が中枢機能を調節する現象の分子・細胞レベルでのメカニズムを解明する。
