Outline of Research at the Start

初潮を迎えた女性の身体は、約28日周期で女性ホルモン分泌によって大きく変動する。これまでにアスリートを含む様々な対象において、生物学的、生理学的な実態やこれら意義が報告されている。しかし、月経周期による身体組成、水分代謝の変化の実態は未解明な部分が多い。研究代表者らの国際研究グループは、ヒトの水分代謝の決定因子を明らかにした。本研究では、この国際共同研究からさらに1歩踏み込み、これまで明らかにできなかった女性の月経周期にともなう水分代謝及び体水分変化の実態を明らかにし、その知見をもとに身体活動の影響を強く受ける女性アスリートの月経が競技パフォーマンスに与える影響を明らかにする。
