Outline of Research at the Start

This project will explore the use of photon counting detections in optical wireless communications (OWC). It will involve close international collaboration and the construction of a 'super photon-counting receiver' by integrating high-bandwidth fluorescent antennas with silicon photomultiplier (SiPM) sensors. Furthermore, the project will investigate artificial intelligence (AI) techniques to compensate for the nonlinear transmission distortion. Through these advanced techniques, the project aims to challenge the current world record for transmission data rates in eye-safe indoor OWC systems.
