渡航先である米国のカリフォルニア大学サンディエゴ校 (UCSD)のPalsson研究室およびNizet研究室とのこれまでの共同研究で、すでに確立している技術・信頼関係を活かし、複数の最先端のシステム生物学的解析を病原細菌学に応用し、世界的に問題となっている薬剤耐性菌に対する新規制御法の確立につながる基礎研究を展開する。
