Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The present survey demonstrated that the unhealthy lifestyle habits of diabetic patients are associated with a stress-prone personality. Conventional health education methods aim to help individuals shift from unhealthy lifestyle behaviors to healthy ones through dietary, exercise, or medical therapy. However, using only these methods may have a limited effect on behavior because patients with diabetes often have stress-prone personalities. We propose a means of changing their life trajectories by group work activities that aim to help patients be satisfied with themselves and enjoy with others. By giving patients the opportunity to exercise self-care of their stress-prone personality, they can develop healthier behaviors. Thus, we developed and conducted a group education method towards this purpose.
