Outline of Final Research Achievements |
We have been developing a wireless sensor network system to support the coral ecological system survey activities for conserving the coral reef environment. In this system, coral images are gathered by stationary underwater monitoring sensor nodes equipped with a camera with fixed-point observation. In a long-term observation, however, a camera view is interrupted by an insufficient light intensity after dark or an attached algae growth on the sensor node surface. Coral images could be captured using the sensor node which arranged circular ring LED illumination around the camera when the distance until the target coral was 1.0-2.0 [m] We investigated attached algae growth in surface of acrylic board which is the exterior material of sensor node. A prototype of wiper device was developed to wipe and remove attached algae on the surface of sensor node. A wiping action of the wiper device was confirmed in practical environment.
