Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Seasonal environmental histories were often recorded as line laminate structures in lake sediments, called as “Annual Valves”. In this research, we discussed the several different lakes and their annual valves at (a) volcanic lakes, (b) coastal brackish lakes, (c) polar lakes and (d) arid lakes. We checked the detail successions of diatom assemblages which mainly formed small laminated structures in the sediments. Our results made clear that not only climatic histories but also hazard histories can be presumed by diatoms in annual laminated deposits.
