Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This study has explored mainly Trollope's view of labor in his travel books. By analyzing not only the books but also the autograph manuscripts and the working diaries, it turned out that Trollope fully recognized the negative side of labor while insisting repeatedly that “work alone will civilize” the black people.
