Outline of Final Research Achievements |
In Soviet Union socialist realism was forced down as the sole aesthetic principle, whereas in interwar Czechoslovakia it evoked aroused debates between avant-gardists and adherents of socialist realism theory. These debates proved to have theoretical and historical significance because avant-gardists proposed a hypothesis about continuity of the avant-garde and socialist realism for themselves and anticipated the now widely accepted definition of socialist realism as kitsch.
