Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The purpose of this research project was to conduct a first systematic analysis of the spatio-temporal systems in Middle English along the lines of historical pragmatics. After constructing a definition of the spatio-temporal systems, I conducted a statistical analysis of how frequently the elements of space and time, such as tenses and pronouns, are employed in both spatial and temporal domains. My investigations into discourse showed how these elements and factors are related with each other in an integrated spatio-temporal domain and how these relationships change in discourse.
