Outline of Final Research Achievements |
How was the English local history or historian supported by such universities and local historical societies in nineteenth and twentieth centuries as the Department of English Local History, University of Leicester, and the Leicestershire Archaeological and Historical Society? Through their activities and transactions, the local historical societies told and showed, and some universities taught, many amateur antiquarians or students their method and achievements of English local history, and tried to bring up to be the local historians, although few of them wrote any local histories.
