Outline of Final Research Achievements

Vibrio parahaemolyticus requires iron for its survival and growth. V. parahaemolyticus produces siderophore, vibrioferrin (VF), under iron restriction conditions.
Deletion mutants which lacks VF receptors were prepared, and showed that VF was necessary for growth of V. parahaemolyticus. Monoclonal antibodies against two VF receptors were prepared and showed binding ability with VF receptors. These clones may be useful for V. parahaemolyticus detection. Characterization of these antibodies are undergoing.
