Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Expression of aquaporin 3, 5 in oral squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) was much higher, whereas it in normal epithelium was null, suggesting ectopic expression of aquaporins in oral SCC. Knock-down of aquaporins in oral SCC cell lines resulted in the inhibition of cell proliferation. Moreover, we detected fatty acid-binding protein (FABP) in SCC prolireration. FABPs were expressed highly in oral SCC ectopically. FABP has an important role in proliferation of SCC through the MAPK pathway.
