Research Abstract |
I believe that the goals I initially set for this research period have been more than met. In the second year of the two-year research program I was able to attend 4 international medical conferences, making notes and collecting data on over 140 Japanese medical presenters and over 80 presenters in English from other Asian countries. The results indicated clearly which aspects of Japanese English medical presentations needed improvement and which aspects were in conformity with Asian regional standards. I have presented these results at three different academic conferences in three different countries. These results have also been published in three published academic papers (one pending). As a result of this research and subsequent presentations and publications, I was asked to author a commercial book on improving Japanese doctors' performances at international conferences which is due for publication in October 2014. I have also conducted workshops on presentation skills.
