Research Abstract |
We newly developed photochemical CO2 reduction to CO by using an Ir(III) complex as photocatalyst with amine as reductant. Irradiation to a Ru(II) dimer with a benzofurane bridge ligand gave the corresponding dihydrido complex, however, this photochemical system could not reduce CO2 to formaldehyde and methanol. We carefully investigated the hydride transfer reactions from a Ru(II) hydrido complex to various NAD model compounds and clarified both electronic and steric effects on the selectivity of the products and the reaction rates.
