Outline of Final Research Achievements |
We demonstrated genetically and physiologically that japonica rice has a UV-B specific signaling system with which coleoptile growth inhibition and anthocyanin accumulation (in purple strains) are induced. In addition, it was shown that these UV-B-specific responses are weakened in indica rice strains. Furthermore, expression of some genes was found to be regulated in parallel to these physiological responses.
