Research Abstract |
This study aimed at establishing a defined culture condition whichallows ES cells to differentiate into long-term reconstituting hematopoietic stem cellswithout gene manipulation. Multi-potent hematopoietic progenitor cells were able to beinduced from ES cells in a serum-free culture in the presence of several growth factors andchemicals. When transplanted into lethally irradiated adult mice, however , thesehematopoietic progenitor cells failed to show an ability of long-term reconstitution of bonemarrow hematopoiesis.
