Research Abstract |
Natural IgM antibody recognizes various pathogen components and contributes to eradication of pathogens. We found that mice lacking IgM Fc receptor, Fca/mR (CD351), showed reduced inflammatory cytokines production against lipopolysaccharide (LPS) and improved survival against septic shock. We also found that marginal zone B cells (MZBs), highly expressing Fca/mR, largely contribute inflammatory cytokines production against LPS. Thus, Fca/mR regulates inflammatory cytokine production from MZB, leading to the regulation of systemic inflammatory responses during LPS-induced septic shock.
