Research Abstract |
We have developed a secure IT consultation system. When doctors at home-care clinics and rural medical institutions have trouble making dermatological diagnoses and treatment, they can consult female dermatologists on maternal leave via this system which includes medical histories and photographs. The consultations included many instances of eczema/dermatitis and tumors. According to the questionnaire, home-care/rural doctors, and female dermatologists all reported a high level of satisfaction. The result of interviews indicated that this system may improve the dermatological diagnostic abilities of homecare and rural doctor, and also suggested that it may be a useful educational tool for the maintenance and advancement of dermatological abilities of female dermatologists on maternal leave, as well as reinstatement support. The appropriate remuneration for this remote dermatological consultation system was 2000 yen for an initial consultation and 500 yen for each follow-up consultation.
