Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Anterior cruciate ligament(ACL) injury have mechanoreceptor in the ligament. Many reports show ACL injury causes deficits in proprioception. Recently, Kapreil reported that there is a modifications of the central nerve systems after ACL injury. But, There is no report that showed an association between proprioception and CNS.Our study objective is to investigate the relationship between brain function using functional MRI and proprioceptive function. Regard to brain activity, fMRI in ACL injured patients showed activation of visual cortex and Posterior parietal cortex. This may suggest CNS compensate for proprioceptive function by using visual function. However,The relationship between brain activity and motor control in lower leg are still unclear.
