Outline of Final Research Achievements |
We investigated Nishikie illustrating rebellions caused by groups of samurai. The museums surveyed were as follows : Kagoshima Prefectural Library, Kagoshima City Museum of Art, Kumamoto City Museum, Kurume University, and Kagoshima University. In parallel with these investigations, we collected various related Nishikie. As a result, we made a list of those 657 Nishikie and prepared a home page to present our efforts. Moreover, we published a pictorial record “Seinan War : A Report And Its Effect”, which introduced Seinan War Nishikie, and presented a paper “The Seinan War and Brocade Prints : The Development of Media Narrative and Publishing in the Meiji 10s.”
