The Society of Authors was founded in 1884 by Walter Besant for protecting the right and furthering the interests of authors. Soon after, a great prominent writers have joined and assisted in its activities. By correcting and examining a bunch of the Soceity's journal, "The Author", from 1890 to 1901, this study explored what the authors who supported the principles of the Society shared among them as thier future concerns about the gradual changes of the English Novel under the pressure of its rapid commercialization at the end of the nineteeth century.
