Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This study surveyed the literary transmission of the knowledge, reading practice of the intellectuals, and other aspects of social practice in the pre-modern Arab world. Analysis of the awqaf documents clarified the aspects of the social practice using the books in Mosques and Madrasas. Using the notes written in the colophons of the Arabic manuscripts as documentary sources offered us rich examples of intellectuals in those days. Comparison of the social practice in the Arab world with that of the other regions illustrated the characteristic feature of this region.
