Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Main findings of this research project from the analysis of Japanese survey data can be summarized as follows. First, risk-taking voters are more likely to vote for opposition parties with more uncertainty, which leads to a swing in election results. Second, risk-taking voters are less likely to split their votes in elections to consolidate a power base of a government party with a radical policy platform. Third, Japanese voters tend to accept the risk of entrapment but avoid the risk of abandonment when thinking of security policies in terms of alliance politics.
