Research Abstract

24年度までに前年度までにこれまで一つの種族からなると思われていた長いガンマ線バーストにガンマ線放射の輝き初めから終わりまで激しく光る区間と中休みの区間を繰り返しながら光る種族(I型と呼んでいる)と光度が最大に達した後に単調に暗くなる種族(II型と呼んでいる）がいると考えることで今まで一つの分散の大きな相関と思われていたガンマ線バーストの距離指標が非常に精度のよい二つ独立した相関となることを発見した。
これまでの研究では即時放射と呼ばれる最初のガンマ線放射に着目し、その光度曲線の違いから分類していたが、X線残光と呼ばれる即時放射に続く放射の振る舞いについて研究を進めた。結果として我々がI型と呼ぶ長いガンマ線バーストは、即時放射の後に時間の-3 ~ -5乗で急激に減光すること、またII型と呼ぶ長いガンマ線バーストは時間の-2乗程度の比較的緩やかな減光をすることを発見した。
この性質とこれまでに発見した即時放射の性質はI型の長いガンマ線バーストは中心エンジンがブラックホールと降着円盤からなる系で、II型の長いガンマ線バーストは強磁場中性子星であると考えることにより其々の性質が綺麗に説明出来るということを世界で初めて指摘した。さらにII型の長いガンマ線バーストのX線残光の振る舞いは非常に均一な振る舞いをしており、綺麗な相似則を持っているということを発見した。またI型とII型で振る舞いの異なるのは最初の数1000秒くらいの間であり、後期のX線残光の振る舞いは両方のクラスで共通であり、その物理的な起源は中心エンジンに由来するものではなく、星周物質と物質流の相互作用からくるものである可能性が高いということが分かった。
