Research Abstract |
Epigenetics involves genetic control by mechanisms other than DNA sequence. These epigenetic mechanisms have ability to switch on or off various important genes.MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are single-stranded 19-25 nucleotide-long RNAs and have an important role in post-transcriptional gene expression. In this study, the regulatory pathway of miR-1 plays a more prominent role during postnatal development in the masseter muscle than in the gastrocnemius muscle, whereas the regulatory pathway of miR-133a plays a more prominent role in gastrocnemius muscle than in the masseter muscle.
