| Research Abstract |
I elucidated the actual situation of the natural disasters that occurred in Istanbul from the 16th century to the 18th century in this Grant-in-Aid for Research Activity start-up.Specifically, I performed five times of presentation and wrote four articles about the earthquake occurred in Istanbul in 1509 and 1766, and also about the deluge occurred in Istanbul in 1563.
I also researched historical documents related to this subject, actively. As a result, I could collect so many historical records from Basbakanlik Osmanli Arsivi(Istanbul, Turkey), Metropolitan Museum(New York, USA), Biblioteque Nationale(Paris, France), Archivo di Stato di Venezia (Venice, Italy) and Leiden University(Leiden, Netherlands).
