Research Abstract

本年度は、ポリマー光ファイバ(POF)を用いた「記憶」機能を有する分布型歪・温度センサを実現するための前準備として、 (1) 極めて大きい歪に対するブリルアン散乱信号の応答の解明、(2) 新たなPOFとシリカ光ファイバ間の接続法の開発およびそれを用いた信号増強、(3) ブリルアン信号に対する偏波状態の影響の解明、(4) 部分塩素化POFの高精度な温度計測への応用可能性の提示、などを推進した。
(1) ポリマー材料が塑性変形するほどの大きな歪に対する、ブリルアン散乱信号の依存性を調査した。ブリルアン周波数シフトは歪に対して非線形な応答を示すこと、散乱信号パワーは塑性変形領域では著しく小さくなること、さらに、これらの特性を有効活用すれば従来技術では実現困難であった数10%以上の大きな歪の検出が可能であること、を示した。
(2) POFとシリカ単一モード光ファイバを接続する際、シリカ多モード光ファイバを介在させることで、POF端面のラフネスによる焦げ・損傷を防止する手法を開発した。また、本接続法を利用し、非常に高いピークパワーを有する光パルスを励起光として用いることで、POF中のブリルアン散乱信号を増強させることに成功するとともに、POF中のブリルアンダイナミクスの重要性を示した。
(3) 自己ヘテロダイン系において、高い信号対雑音比でブリルアン信号を取得するための偏波調整の役割がシリカ光ファイバとPOFでは異なり、前者ではブリルアン信号辞退のパワーを最大化するのに対し、後者ではレイリー散乱スペクトルの裾野を可能な限り抑制することにあることを実験的に示した。
(4) 近年開発された部分塩素化POF中の音速の温度依存性を実測し、このPOFが従来のPOFよりも高精度な温度センシングに応用可能であることを示した。
