Outline of Research at the Start

本研究は、古代地中海世界から近世・近代大西洋奴隷交易へと展開した地中海型奴隷制度について、「奴隷制の想像力」がその変容過程に及ぼす影響に着目しつつ、そのグローバルで動的な展開を描き出す。「奴隷制の想像力」とは実際の奴隷制と隷属に関する言説や表象が作り出していく「奴隷制／隷属イメージ」が歴史的現実を変えていく力である。本研究は「奴隷制の想像力」を想定することによって、現代に至る奴隷制のあり方の世界史的な見取り図を提示し、奴隷/隷属研究に新たなステージをもたらす。
