| Outline of Research at the Start |
本研究は、南米大陸に独自に勃興したアンデス文明を対象として、家畜導入と社会の複雑化の関連を動物考古学及び関連諸領域の手法を横断的に駆使して解明し、古代アンデス文明史の再構築に取り組むものである。大型偶蹄類家畜の出現は食料供給および労働力の増大をもたらす人類史を画する出来事であったが、家畜の導入が与えた社会への影響を実証的に評価し、文明形成と関連づける研究は意外にも少ない。生業論・経済的側面に傾きがちな文明論を脱し、動物利用の変化がもたらす社会の変動を解明することにより新たな文明論の提示を目指す。
