Outline of Research at the Start

5年間をかけ、アアリ古墳群西においてディルムン最初期の王墓を含む十数基の古墳を発掘する。最終的に、研究代表者とステファン・ラウルセン氏が持っているデータと比較を行い、ワーディー・アッ＝サイル古墳群の周壁付き古墳→アアリ古墳群西の最初期の王墓群→アアリ王墓群へと、どのように古墳の階層性や構造、規模、副葬品の量、質が変貌するかを明らかにし、ディルムンにおける王権の発達を考古学的に研究する。
また、5年間をかけ、とくにディルムンの王都とされるカラートゥ・ル＝バーレーン遺跡の北側の水域を中心に、多様な海洋探査技術を用いて、水中考古学調査を実施する。
