Outline of Research at the Start

本研究で分析する九州療養所「患者身分帳」は、自ら記録を残さなかった多くのハンセン病者の生活史と、個々の病者をとりまく複数のステークホルダーの動向と意思決定過程の再構成を可能にする貴重な資料である。
本研究はこの資料の悉皆的分析を行い、発病から療養所入所に至る病者の社会経済的状況、各法制下での入所決定の諸条件と法的手続、退所や逃走を含む療養所経験、病者と家族・社会との関係の変容という諸論点について、〈制度と実態〉・〈ジェンダーと家族〉の観点を重視しつつ明らかにする。これにより近代日本のハンセン病史を〈複数の視点が交錯する病者の社会史〉として描き直し、「医療の社会史」研究を刷新することをめざす。
